I'm Bre, and I'm all about movement.

It all began with my love for ballet at the age of three. From that very first ballet class, I was hooked. I have been dancing ever since! My journey into Pilates started in my hometown Santa Barbara, CA when I was just thirteen. I was encouraged by my ballet teacher to practice Pilates to enhance my dance skills and prevent injuries. Under the guidance of my Pilates mentor Emilee Garfield I delved deep into the Pilates practice and fell in love with it.

Throughout high school, alongside ballet and Pilates, I found myself drawn to Yoga. Not only did it complement my other practices, but it also enriched my understanding of the mind and spirit. The breathwork and philosophy of Yoga became transformative tools in my everyday life.

Following my passion for movement, I pursued studies in the Dance Science Department at California State University Long Beach. There, I immersed myself in the art of dance and deepened my knowledge of the human body through kinesiology courses. Exploring human anatomy through studying cadavers was a highlight of my education! During my sophomore year, I completed my BASI Pilates Comprehensive Teacher Training with a specialization in Dance.

After graduating with a BA in Dance Science in 2017, I made Pilates my full-time career. I began teaching at physical therapy clinics and boutique Pilates studios, always eager to expand my knowledge and repertoire.

I became certified in teaching yoga, completing my 200-hour training program with YogaWorks in Costa Mesa. Alongside teaching, I continued my education with courses in areas like Low Back Pain & Pilates, Pilates for the Mature Client, and Pre/Post-natal Pilates.

Having learned so much about movement in the Southern California area, I decided I was ready to move back home to Santa Barbara to share my knowledge and love for movement with the Santa Barbara community. My mentor Emilee Garfield welcomed me back to where my journey with Pilates started at her studio, The Loft. She offered me my own studio space, this is how my studio Pilates Loft started!

I am so happy to be back home helping my community with their health and wellness. My current focus is in maintaining a special studio space that people look forward to coming to, and continuing my education. I am currently enrolled in a Pilates & rehab anatomy course and will be attending a Pilates Conference in April 2024. Staying updated on the latest research and information in the Pilates and movement world is very important to me as an instructor!

Overall, as a exercise practitioner, I aim to impart mindful movement through Pilates, yoga, strength, and rehab exercises. My hope is for every client to leave my classes feeling uplifted and strong in their mind, body, and spirit. Let's move together!
